A Sneak Peek

In a few days my parents are finally moving out of the condo that my grandma and I share (that's share rent and everything).  I'm pretty excited to have the space.  And they're not going far.  In the even of them moving out my grandma and I get a craft nook.  Our living/dining room i one huge room and we are going to take a corner and make it into a little sewing/crafting/scrapbooking nook.  Anyway, I made a little collage in Picasa, which is really cool by the way, to show you a little bit of how I'm going to decorate.

I went to Goodwill the other day and got the cake pans and candle holder to make the stand in the middle.  The thread on the left is actually on a tie rack.  I used to hang purses on the rack (or hooks) and now I decided to repurpose it.  On the right those bottles are beer bottles wrapped in yarn.  The top right photos is of some things I plan to hang on the wall.

Can't wait to show off the finished product with my sewing machine and serger all set up too :)

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 6

Day 6: Colors

My jar of yarn remnants.

I have so many different colors of yarn, but most have been used until there's barely enough to crochet a flower, but I keep them- they are loved as much as the rest.  They are useful.  They are colorful.

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 5

Day 5: Notions

I admit I had to look this up.  I've heard the expression before but wasn't sure exactly what it was.

Buttons.

I used to have hundreds, but now I've dwindled it down to probably 100.  I have three jars- one with colors, one black, and one white.  I love buttons.

Stay tuned for tomorrows photo!

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 4

Day 4: Inspiration Outdoors

Flowers at Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA.  I love love love Pike Place!  I would go once a week if I lived in the Seattle area.  And look at these gorgeous flowers they sell.  How could they not be inspiring?!

Stay tuned for tomorrows photo!

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 3

Day 3: An Old FO

So, like I said in my previous post I wasn't quite sure what an "FO" was so I looked it up and figured it's a finished object.

Here it is: my first sewing project.  An apron.  If you look closely at the craftsmanship, it's terrible!  I did such a bad job, but hey everyone has to mess up on their first project :)

A Month of Craft Photos: Day 2

Day 2:  Craft Tools

I actually use quite a bit, but these are just a few.  A 6 mm crochet hook, scissors, rotary cutter, a hot glue gun, and a measuring tape.  I probably use these the most.  The rotary cutter is a sewer's best friend.  I love that thing.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's: An Old FO (ok, I was trying to figure out what FO was and the best I could come up with was finished object?!  not too sure.)

A Month of Craft Photos (c/o Good Knits)

I just started following a new blog called Good Knits.  It's pretty awesome.  Clearly, by the title you can deduce that she does a lot with knitting, well actually more crocheting.  She has some sweet projects, but her latest posts have been these Craft Photos.  So, I thought maybe I'd follow in her footsteps.  Also, it will help me blog every day, or at least more often.

So, here goes...

Antique Find of the Week

This past weekend- that flew by I might add- my best friend, Kristina, and her husband, Eric, came to visit from Tucson.  They came to visit for the Super Bowl.  Not that any of us were particularly cheering for anyone specific team, we just have watched the Super Bowl together for the past few years we lived in Tucson, so we decided they had to come here to visit us to watch it.

They arrived on Friday and we went to Old Town Temecula.  We went to a country club that we were not too impressed with to be honest.  The drinks were kind of weak and the food wasn't great.  We line danced and failed miserably.  Anyway, it was still fun.

Saturday we went to Dana Point Harbor and ate at Proud Mary's, which is my favorite place on the coast.  Then we headed down to San Clemente where my mom grew up.  It's kind of like another home for me because we used to visit quite a bit when we were kids.

Here are some of the yachts in Dana Point Harbor.  A lot are for sale anybody have $90, 000 laying around?!

The view walking down the street where we parked in San Clemente.  Love it here!

Donyvan, Mom, Eric, and Kristina with San Clemente in the background.

 It was a gorgeous day!

Then after we walked on the beach we went to a street called Del Mar- it's lined with shops and restaurants.  And I found an antique store that only Kristina would go in with me.  She found a camera that was cute then she led me over to another set up cameras and I found this little beauty.  I love it!  It was a little steep in price, but I couldn't resist.  It's from 1926.

This week I probably won't be going to any antique stores- just because I need to cut back on my spending :)  However, I did get a little something from the IRS, so there will be a new additiong to my sewing table (that is non-existent right now).

Have a good week friends!
